sump pump installation photosReview this post for solving water accumulation issues for one customer here in the Central Florida area. Recently an Orlando customer had issues with water collecting along the fence line and and gate. Heavy clay wouldn’t let water percolate away and caused standing water puddles and the ground to constantly be wet.

This moist low spot caused damp issues inside the property and caused the stucco to fall off the home.

Normally we would like to see the water drain through the front yard to the street down a slight gradient. In this yard, water couldn’t drain out to the street because the street was at a higher elevation than the gate area was.

The solution was a french drain with a sump pump system. A french drain with a sump pump system is the most efficient way to solve wet area issues and evacuates up to five times more water than a traditional rock and pipe french drain.

We installed the french drain along the inside of the fence and along a section of the lot line. A collector box was installed into the low spot to evacuate water as quickly as possible.

The sump pump was installed at the end of the french drain to collect all of the water from the low spot. The pump also collects water that passed under the fence into the french drain from the neighbor’s yard. A discharge pipe was then installed from the pump to the street to move water from the sump when it rains.

Now the water cannot move from the neighbor’s yard into this yard and end up in the low spot. Any water that does find its way into the low spot instantly drains into the sump and is evacuated to the street.

The inside of the property no longer suffers with dampness and we are happy to say another customer is pleased with a drainage project’s outcome.
