Fixed Irrigation Sprays

Fixed sprays providing head to head coverage

Irrigation sprinkler system zone run times depend on the type of irrigation sprinkler heads that are installed onto any particular zone. The first rule for any irrigation sprinkler system that we install in any home or business within the Orlando or Central Florida area is that sprays & rotors must not be mixed on the same zone.

Sprays, or fixed pattern spray heads cover an area with a fixed pattern spray nozzle. Rotors cover an area with a rotating head. They sweep back & forth and rotors can be adjusted to cover a variation of angles.

To minimise irrigation sprinkler system zone run times it is important to have head to head coverage. The term head to head coverage refers to the spray pattern from any head on a zone will be over lapping as many adjacent heads as possible.

Once we only have fixed spray heads on a zone & all rotors on a zone with head to head coverage we can consider  the irrigation sprinkler system zone run times. At any home or business within the Orlando or Central Florida area it is best to have a fixed spray zone run for 20 minutes and a rotor zone for 50 minutes. The difference between run times is because a fixed spray will deliver around 2.5 times the amount of water than a rotor. Please consider this as a guide. Irrigation sprinkler system zone run times will vary by season.
